Providing Support for New Mothers With a Mobile App
Objective
LEVA’s mission is to provide a wide range of support for new mothers so that they may be successful in their lives and careers. My UX team was tasked with designing an MVP to be launched as a mobile app to support mothers beginning their motherhood journeys with a focus on lactation support.

The struggles and negative emotions usually took place during the third trimester to three months after the child's birth.
New mothers were overwhelmed by the amount of information out there, and they didn't find a lot of the information helpful.
Struggling mothers looked to their spouses, lactation experts, or other mothers for support.
Many women felt they were unprepared to breastfeed their child.
SYNTHESIS

To focus our design decisions, we distilled our research into a user persona.

Problem Statement
Elena needs a way to find personalized and empathetic support for her physical and emotional challenges caused by early motherhood and breastfeeding.

The team conducted multiple rounds of ideation sessions where we asked participants to address our persona's challenges and goals using How Might We statements.

Based on the results of our ideation sessions, we wanted to implement these features in our design.

A way to schedule appointments with Leva's lactation consultants
A forum for mothers to ask questions and to communicate with one another

We decided to use organic shapes since we are targeting our app to help breastfeeding and motherhood.

Hi-Fi Highlights

Features that mom's would use on a regular basis are easily accessible from the home page. This includes their tracking pages, articles, and mood journal.

Through the Lactation Consultant page, mothers can read about Leva's team and schedule virtual appointments if needed.

We've included a forum which is organized by relevant topics for mothers to ask questions or to share their experiences.
